Babrix is one of my favorite Eastside (Silverlake) restaurants, I like it so much that I’ve actually been three times! Wha??
Today’s outing was an engagement brunch for Barnacle and Whale during a rainy afternoon. I’m not sure how us Angelinos survived the downpour, but by some miracle, we did not melt.
Barbrix was packed with lively folks knee deep in the $5 bottomless mimosas. Every table was filled with revelry and frivolity. Ours included.
Brunch features many breakfast items (standouts were the cornmeal blueberry pancakes and the brioche French toast) but also include lunch items such as the very tasty Barbrix burger (featuring a combo of ground sirloin, chuck and short rib) and the very popular Fried Chicken Sandwich (served on a pretzel roll with apple-napa cabbage slaw).
We relived the hilarious story of how Chesty Morgan and I were talking and suddenly “Where’s my balloon??” We both looked up to see it floating into the hemisphere.
The servers don’t let the champagne glasses get even half empty before they refill them (and the champagne actually does not suck) so be cautious while trying to get your $5 worth. You could end up needing the money you’ve saved for your DUI attorney.
I’ve been to Barbrix for dinner too where it has a great neighborhoody wine bar feel, and the dinner menu is excellent fare as well. Where ever you live, Barbrix is worth the drive.
Congrats Barnacle and Whale on your pending nuptials!!
