Los Cinco Puntos is the first stop on today’s TACO CRAWL! Because who doesn’t want/need a belly full of tacos?

LCP is located in Boyle Heights, essentially East LA, and has been around for ages.

Here are a few brief notes on this place.

There is NO SEATING. There is also no convenient place outside to eat your tacos unless you wish to procure an unkempt grassy knoll in the middle of an intersection, having every car that passes by stare at you. (Which we did).

This place is more of a meats/tamales by the pound, take-and-go kind of place. But they’re also famous for their tacos and make their own tortillas in house, which is fun to watch.

There is an enormous banner stating that Yahoo named LCP as the best tacos in American and that Rachael Ray has agreed with this determination.

All street cred, lost.

Their tacos are enormous and chock full of meat. This meat will be fetched from sketchy looking bins filled with dissected animal corpses encompassed by gore-splattered windows. Try not to pay attention to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre aspect of today’s experience.

The flavors of the meats were nice and weren’t dried out (which can often be the case) and the tortillas were very tasty but I prefer smaller tacos (the only food I prefer small). These were very messy and difficult to eat without utensils.

FYI, don’t serve me a knife and fork taco if you don’t also provide a knife and fork.

Also, I like to control my own salsas and at LCP, they do it for you. I guess going to too many taco trucks lately have spoiled me. Sure, you, the employee, have to leave the counter once in a while and clean up the gigantuan mess that us, the disgusting public, will make. But wiping up a few pico de gallo spills is worth a returning customer.

That’s why places like TCBY (why do I keep bringing them up??) have all but disappeared from popularity. People like a do-it-yourself operation when it comes to certain things.

Give us free reign of salsa bars! That’s all we ask. Oh, and perhaps a few places to sit and devour our overly salsa’d tacos.

Don't worry, this place is not promising DIARRHEA. It could still happen. But, no promises.
