Dino’s is one of those throwback pizza parlors where you can just hang out all night. And we accidentally did.
“Should we leave now?” one of us asks. “Well, all the waiters are over there counting their tips, so…” retorts Captain.
I know this place has been around forever and I know they have good reviews on Yelp but….was this really going to be any good? Or did everyone just like the place because they came here as kids?
YES, IT’S REALY THAT GOOD!!
To be honest, when I spied the Lasagna pizza coming out and saw how thick it was, I instantly thought “Uh oh…gut bomb”.
But it wasn’t! The crust had this incredible popover consistency! It was so light and airy, with a nice little crisp at the bottom. I’ve honestly never had anything like it.
And I want more, dammit.
The three of us ordered three small pizzas and I was 100% sure we’d have leftovers and I’d be munching on it the following morning in bed watching “Gossip Girl”, I mean “House of Cards” on Netflix.
This was not the case. We ate every slice.
Dino’s offers three types of crust. Thick, Regular and Thin. We ordered the Four Cheese (white pizza, basically) on the thin crust but seeing how delicious the regular crust is, I would suggest sticking with that style. Unless you hate popovers, but then you wouldn’t be human and in that case, wouldn’t be able to read this blog.
Many folks come here for takeout (they also deliver) as the line snaking out the door can attest to.
But I would suggest not doing either of those options and actually eating here. Part of the fun of these old school pizza parlors is to experience eating in public! (sorry, I guess that means you can’t swallow it whole like you would at home) If you can find a table, that is, it can get crowded. Please note, there is no table service. Order and pay up front, find a seat and then they bring the food to you. Deal with it.
Besides, even if you popped a dozen DeGornio’s in your oven at home, you’d never be able to recreate that magical “Pizza Parlor” smell.

Trying the Lasagna Pizza right now! Can’t believe we live a mile away and have never stepped foot in here. Thanks for the recommendation.
