Because two Korean eating establishments weren’t enough in one evening, we happened upon a third. Not really that hungry, the four of us proceeded to ORDER FOUR ENTREES. Sensible and not at all insane.
The only reason we ended up at the elusive Cafe 600 is we were improperly dressed for the supposedly swanky speakeasy, Lock and Key. Eff them, we’re heading to whatever the hell this random place is across the street.
It became very obvious that Cafe 600 was one of those Korean spots where only Koreans go and while we were made to feel quite welcome, I did sort of feel like we were out of our element.
Apparently, the second floor is a karaoke bar and we kept spotting scantily clad females sauntering by as we guzzled our pitcher of Soporro beer and ete unnecessary food.
Here’s the skinny on the food. The Spicy Ramen was delicious and very spicy but very straight from a box. But who doesn’t love Cup ‘O Noodles, so let’s move on.
The Zucchini pancake was our favorite thing, it was on the thicker side but really flavorful and comforting. Who doesn’t love comfort food? Especially when you’ve just eaten at TWO Korean restaurants shortly before.
And double especially when you’ve just gotten denied entrance to a douchey establishment because of your ragged appearance. FYI, if you want to read the angry Yelp review one of our group posted, click HERE.
The Pork Belly Kimchi was interesting, I’ve never had hot kimchi before and I’m not sure I cared for it. But Salt Lick ate every bite, so apparently he did.
The Whole Fried Chicken is a good deal at $10 but it wouldn’t win any awards. It was still nice and I ate a ton of it. Not sure why.
Cafe 600 is the perfect spot if you’re in the mood for a semi-rowdy, semi-divey atmosphere in which to grab a pitcher a beer and a few Korean nibbles, but only if you live in the area. Otherwise, if you’re actually intending to go and are not happening upon it organically, the magic is lost.
