Pizzeria il Fico is one of those quaint, homey Italian joints that everyone who’s been there loves, but that not everyone knows exists. If I lived closer, it would definitely be me “hop on in for a glass of wine and some pizza” spot. If I ever decided to become the type of person that repeated restaurants. Like…a normal person.
This place does everything pretty well, can’t think of a single dish that disappointed.
Neither was anything amazing enough for me to recall since I’m writing this two weeks after I ate here.
Wait, I remember now! Those eggplant rolls were fantastic, I really loved the flavor combo of the marinara, mortadella and mozzarella.
In my opinion, that sums up most Italian restaurants. They serve great food that you’ve had a hundred times before but most times nothing stands out as being life-changing and there’s nothing wrong with that.
For some reason we have a fondness, a nostalgic affection and don’t hold Italian restaurants to as high a standard.
Even if Fico was not very good, I probably would have still enjoyed myself because I would have just drank more wine. Everything’s better with lots of wine.
