Eveleigh is located on Sunset Blvd.
Usually, that’s where I stop.
There’s just something about going up to Sunset that says “hassle”. Parking is usually a nightmare, the crowds are a douchey combo of tourist and douchey tourist, and it’s not exactly a street known for cuisine. Hookers, yes. Cuisine, not so much.
Where I think Sunset excels at is the world of Brunch and Lunch. Plenty of nameless, faceless cafes, perfect for watching the plastic surgery walk by.
We showed up at Eveleigh at 10 am (right when they opened) on a Saturday. Not a damn fool there.
Music to my ears!
The place is enormous and spread out and the seats are comfy. These are all pluses, for me.
There are two things that this place seems known for and I ordered them both.
The Avocado Toast with espelette pepper and boiled egg gribiche.
What theh eff is an espelette or gribiche? No clue. But they’re really tasty!
The gribiche is like a decontstructed egg salad. With capers and little bits of onion. Perfect to spread on the toast.
The Baked Eggs were very tasty but a tad on the small side. Order the avocado toast too cuz you’re hungry and probably eat too much. That’s what your friends all say.
The Bubble and Squeak was more hearty, plenty of flavorful brisket alongisde two fried eggs and some tasty potato and green hash.
Service was friendly and efficient, food was good and I loved the setting (good bloody mary’s too). Definitely worth the trek up to Sunset (or down to Sunset if you’re a celeb) and then get out before the douchey tourists wake up from their Whiskey/Roxy/Rainbow Room hangover.

Hey! Hollywood Blvd is way more touristy and filled with prostitutes I thought!
Sunset can be douchey, but all those places you mentioned aren’t. Just good spots to see music! LOL
All the trendy/popular hotels are on Sunset though, so the tourists are all wandering those streets at night after a day of sightseeing on Hollywood Blvd. 🙂
Well this restaurant looks up my alley! 🙂 I love eggs on greens n things… :)))
