Since I don’t travel to the outskirts of Los Angeles often, I usually like to hit a few local ethnic food places at a time. Just to be efficient.
This particular Saturday, I knew I wanted Vietnamese.
And lots of it.
The first of our three spots was the #1 rated Pho according to LA Weekly, Pho Filet.
Located in what Yelpers call a bad area of town, Pho Filet is known for their….wait for it…Pho with Filet Mignon.
While I did enjoy this hot, steamy bowl of noodle soup with tender pieces of beef, I actually dug the Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) a little better.
I’m not sure if it’s the little dish of special sauce you dump in before slurping it all down or what, but it be damn tasty!
We also order the Bun Dac Biet with Pork, which was served warm (I’m used to it being served cold) while it was tasty and we all really loved the pork, it wasn’t worth the drive.
While we enjoyed this place, I still firmly believe that Pho is Pho and if you can find a good place in your neighborhood, no need to travel for it.
Onto the next one!
