La Golondrina is a really cute, really old, really great Mexican restaurant on the really quaint Olvera Street downtown LA.

If you haven’t been to Olvera street, be sure to take your family when they visit you. It’s the perfect “let’s show mom what I want her to think LA is really like” place. Lots of kitchy shopping, plenty of places to stuff your face and often some traditional Mexican dancing or singing happening somewhere.

Olvera street has a few nicer sit down places sandwiched between all the casual taco places and I think Golondrina is the best.

Mole is fantastic, Conchinita Pibil (spicy marinated pork) is AMAZING and I really appreciated the high quality, non-gristly meats.

The margaritas are NOT made with a disgusting, neon green mix and are pretty potent. Two will get you nicely buzzed.
