Got Kosher? is one of the myriad of choices along Pico Boulevard’s Kosher Korridor (is that a thing? If not, I just made it up. I’m sure the Kardashians would approve).
The cuisine is French/Tunisian but what really pulled me in was all the pretzel action going on! (they make them in-house)
Everything comes with a pretzel of some sort. And not just your typical pretzel bun. The chicken schnitzel comes on a light, airy pretzel baguette and the veggie burger comes on a whole wheat pretzel bun.
They even sell pretzel challah, to go!
It’s PRETZEL HEAVEN.
What I was less than fine with were those two teens seated near us, who not only questioned the poor waitress about EVERYTHING on the menu “Is this chicken or beef sausage? What spices are in the sausage? What sort of mood was the cow in when it was slaughtered?”
It was ridiculous.
Then came the smashing of things.
First, the ceramic pepper shaker comes crashing to the floor, shattering.
“At least it wasn’t the salt shaker, that would have been bad luck”.
Well, guess what happens next? The salt shaker follows suit, spreading salt and shards of glass all over the place.
If that wasn’t bad enough, somehow the metal broom the waitress left propped against the wall smacks down on the floor, scaring me half to death.
I thought someone had been shot! Preferably, one of the teens. I would have gladly sided with whomever had done it.
Anyhoo….
The veggie burger was homemade, which I greatly appreciated. Filling, flavorful and the wheat pretzel bun held it all together nicely. As long as you don’t mind eating the effer with a fork. The patty was twice the size of the bun. I was fine with all that. Loved this dish.
The Merguez sausage sandwich was also tasty, my favorite part being the pretzel french roll. Never heard of such a thing, but I’m a big fan.
I noticed one of the teens had ordered the same thing (I know I’m old cuz I use the term “teens”).
I’m not saying I wished a shard of glass had made it into his sandwich…that would be awful. I’m not saying that at all.
