When I compare the actual meat at Dr. Hogly Wogly’s in Van Nuys with other BBQ joints I’ve been to in LA, I would say it’s the best.
Rib meat fell right off the bones, I even cleaned a few bones which I rarely do as I shy away from gristle.
The brisket was so freaking flavorful and you are encouraged by the waitress to continue to dip your meat into the natural gravy that forms at the bottom of the 3 Way combo meat sampler.
The baked beans were good and the macaroni salad was all right but the sides could have been better. And they should have offered mac and cheeese. The lack of it was rather unsettling.
The sweet potato pie was rich and decadent. I’m glad we shared it and didn’t each get our own. It’s on the greasier side. Never seen a greasy sweet potato pie before but it was sure good!
After our BBQ extravaganza, Chesty Morgan and I headed out to Camarillo to pick our own fruit.
If you haven’t done this before, you must. It’s really fun and you definitely feel a sense of accomplishment when you come home (with a much smaller haul than you thought you would) and Instagram pics to all your friends with captions such as “I picked this shit myself!
We had a fun day but I wouldn’t recomend it for your daily berry needs. It’s an hour away from LA and not a huge cost savings. Bring the kiddies or standout, lemme tell ya.

The cost of picking your own fruit is not too much less than just buying at Costco. What am I trying to say?….Just go to Costco.
Why am I in every picture? Oy!
Ha ha ha!
