I, like many others, flocked to MyungIn because it was featured on the new Anthony Bourdain show.
As much as every foodie desires the obscure. The unknown. To be the first one to discover something awesome…it’s so much easier to just go to a place that someone has recommended. Even if you don’t know that someone (Bourdain).
There were plenty of negative Yelp comments from customers saying they had come here because of Bourdain and that MyungIn keeps running out of food.
What did you expect? On the show, they mentioned how there’s never anyone in there. They probably didn’t realize the crapload of overly critical piggies that would be knocking on their door (in a random strip mall in Koreatown) demanding the infamous over sized dumplings As Seen On TV.
Just come early! Obviously, they’ll run out! (as they did with our first choice)
Problem solved. Nothing to whine about.
We ordered three types of dumplings (including the signature large King Bao-esque dumpling) which were all delicious. No salt needed, I would even watch it with the amount of soy sauce you use. It goes a long way.
For $25 bucks, two people can sufficiently pig out on steamed meats in buns and wontons and even have some leftovers.
And hopefully be too stuffed to bitch and moan on Yelp all night…

I really must stop reading your blog in the middle of the night with an empty stomach. 😉 I have about 10 new restaurants to try!
