For anyone that’s been to the original Bludso’s in Compton, the La Brea location is a complete 180.
Large, open, upscale space. Full Bar. An actual place to sit that’s not the boiling hot inside of your own vehicle.
The great news is the prices are still really affordable. I was really shocked by that. The cocktails are what’s gonna set you back here.
They are not stingy with the portions either, so come hungry.
Just don’t get too messy cuz there ain’t no wet naps to help clean up. But they offer full rolls of paper towels at each table for your wiping convenience.
SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
Brisket – Tender, flavorful
Chicken – Juicy, large potion
Pulled Pork – High quality meat
Mac and Cheese – Really simple, not gonna win any awards but sometimes you just want the basics
Baked Beans – Almost as good as the beans at the Compton location and that’s saying something.
Spacious Seating – You’re not crammed in any crappy communal seating. Every table is enormous and spaced far apart so strangers don’t have to hear the god awful slurping noises.
SOME LOWLIGHTS:
The pork ribs and rib tips were a bit dry. Tasty but the meat wasn’t exactly falling off the bone, which I prefer.
The hot link was just ok.
I wish they would have offered the banana pudding dessert they have at the Compton location. That was heavenly.
