This place is cute. Even a crusty old truck driver addicted to meth would agree that Simple Things is a cute, little place.
It reminds me of a shop my sister would have dreamt up when she was 9 years old (except, she would have made it more pink).
The ironic thing about Simple Things is that the sandwiches and pot pies actually stand out more than their sweet pies do!
The roasted Pork Philly was crazy good, the meat was packed with flavor and not at all fatty. The bun was the perfect consistency as to not push any ingredients out onto the table. I’m a messy eater and like to blame the food.
The Pulled Chicken was good too, lots of really tender shredded chicken but it was a bit hard to eat, it turned into a fork and knife meal.
The Chicken Curry Pot Pie was the favorite, loads of really tasty white and dark meat swimming in an oh so sublte curry bath. Crust was thick and very, very edible.
The Pumpkin Streusel pie was disappointing, not enough pumpkin. Too much streusel.
The Coconut Cream was delicious but I wish the sizes were just a smidgen bigger. I wish they were bursting from the little tins a bit more.
More like a pregnant Kim Kardashian stuffed like a sausage in some silly maternity dress.
Actually, I don’t think that analogy works at all.
The End.

Curry pot pie?!? Didn’t we joke about that being my nightmare dish once?!? LOL
Ha, probably!
