Put aside the beautiful suroundings, the delicious yet slightly overpriced food and super friendly server for a moment.
Nothing else seems to matter when one locks oneself in the bathroom…
I’m not entirely sure what percentage of the blame is my fault, but I can’t believe it’s more than 25%!
The sliding latch that easily locked in place would not as easily slide back! It was stuck!
I kept yanking on it, in hopes that it would jiggle out of place.
But to no avail.
I started to panic a bit. For a moment, I wondered how I would pass the ensuing hours. Would I cry in a corner? Would I compose music, come up with some mad beats?
Perhaps, just a long, continuous scream…
I eventually had to resort to banging hard on the looming, cantankerous door.
No one heard. The bustling outside drowned out all of my noisy attempts.
Finally a bus boy came to the door to whom I yelled “How do I open this thing??”
“Push the little button”.
I had seen this little f*cker before – tried to move it from side to side. Tried to turn it. But never tried to push it.
SO EMBARRASING.
One second later, I was outside. Fresh air. Red Face.
No one noticed, thankfully. No one heard a thing. The bus boy was gone in seconds.
Ok, now to the restaurant (now that I survived my harrowing ordeal).
Like I said, Sirena is gorgeous. No matter if you sit inside or out. I wouldn’t say that one necessarily overtakes the other.
Our Food Highlights:
Fried Squash Blossoms (amazing. order these. taste like jalapeno poppers)
Wild Mushroom Pizza (super thin, super flavorful)
Potato Puree (99% butter, 1% potato. Amazing)
Brussels Sprouts (simple, a little crispy, a nice side with any meat you order)
Osso Bucco Bianco (huge portion, juicy and tender veal)
Lamb Shank (also huge portion, tons of meat, good deal for the $)
Some disappointments would be the tiny, TINY portion of Agnoloti Pasta. It was gone in 60 seconds. Either knock $10 off the price or double the portion, people.
The Hamachi was a tad overpriced and I felt there wasn’t much to the Grilled Endive/Beet Salad or the Maine Lobster Salad.
Sirena just opened about a month ago, and still has to work out some kinks (we had a delicious drink, but they’re still working on a cocktail menu – but they have an extensive wine list) but nothing is stopping you from dining here immediately and just listening to my suggestions cuz Bun Boy knows what’s up, ya’ll.
