Larb (Chicken Lettuce Wrap)

Chao Krung has been my local Thai haunt for ten years.

It’s closeby (across the street from the Grove) inexpensive with a nice, quiet ambiance.

Almost too quiet. Like, there’s nobody ever in there.

Usually a bad sign for a restaurant, but the food is pretty good and it’s been there forever – both good signs, right?

So, tonight our group of friends enjoyed one last dinner before everyone goes away for the holidays.

It was a lot of fun. Voices were unnecessarily raised, people kept leaving the table and lots of fun was poked at the horrendous Secret Santa gift I had given at our recent holiday bash.

Who knew that a $5 pack of revoltingly sweet mini martini mixer bottles (such as pukey pomegranate or gross grape) wouldn’t be a huge hit??

The best thing Chao Krung does is their noodles. Both their Pad Thai and Pad See Ew (Spicy Mint Noodle) were absolutely fantastic. Perfectly spicy, I didn’t need to add any chili paste!

The worst thing about Chao Krung was the fact that their website currently features a 25% coupon which is expired.

“Sorry, that’s expired!” they gleefully told us.

“Well, then take it off your f***ing website, idiots!” we all shouted in unison.

Or…maybe just thunk it.

This really irritated me, it was a amateur plot to get customers in and it put a bad taste in my mouth. Not a pad taste, like should have been there.

Get it together Chao Krung!!

Love you mean it,
