No, I’m not kidding.

I said I was eating at $10 and under, right? Well, my sandwich was under $4 bucks. Score!

Our outing at Chick-fil-A began our 4 day trip to Palm Springs for the 4th of July holiday. Let me rephrase that, Palm Springs adjacent.

When I booked this large house for me and 18 other friends, the rental website advertised it was located in the Palm Springs area. Umm…OK…how about an hour away?!!

On our way, we had planned to stop at the Chick-fil-A in some shitty little town I can’t recall. Growing up, I had never heard of this wonderful dining establishment, but my friend I.H. is kind of obsessed with the place. She had one of her birthday party’s catered with Chick-fil-A nuggets!

The last time I had a chicken nugget from a Chick-fil-A, I bit into a big bone! Wow, did I miss out on a lawsuit opportunity or what?? Seriously, I should have kept that thing in a ziplock bag in the freezer, just in case!

So, after devouring the alleged spicy chicken sandwich (spicy, meaning it contained a maximum of two flecks of red pepper. My mouth wasn’t exactly on fire) I also decided to order the peach milkshake.

Both items were delicious. Their chicken is just out of this world. I’m glad the only California locations are not in areas I venture to often.

So, bellies full, we arrived at our 70’s Tiki-esque compound in the middle of nowhere. We were, in actuality, just guests. The millions of flies who greeted us, were the permanent residents. And boy were they friendly to us city folk!

The owners had put up these revolting fly trap bags near the pool to aid in our plight. They were filled with an “enticing” fluid that one would most likely see in a colostomy bag. The odiferous object trapped hundreds of the screaming insects, but did not seem to make a dent in the masses that continued to land on our bare skin. Most likely pooping each time they landed. Is that an urban legend? I’m sure it is not.

More on our trip tomorrow! Rotting, dead fish at the Salton Sea!

What says LA Food Blog more than that??

Here are some pics of the view of the lake from our pool and of the tiki bedroom.
