Don’t let this murky, swampy muck fool you. This is one of the tastiest soups I’ve ever had.

The Vegan Joint calls it a Shitake Soup, made with coconut milk, lemongrass, tofu and bamboo shoots. Those of you who know me, know that I avoid mushrooms like the plague. I don’t know what came over me! I didn’t actually eat any of the floating fungi, but the flavor those little squiggly nasties led to the broth was incredible!

I actually ordered the Sweet and Sour stir fry. It was good, but not picture worthy. I just kept going back to the soup. Even though my friend A.V. was the one that ordered it.

A.V. had a near breakdown moment at the beginning of lunch when the waitress brought meals to a couple that arrived after us. Giving herself whiplash, A.V. swiveled her head around exorcist-style and exclaimed loudly “They got served before us!”

After my face turned the color of an organic tomato, I was able to calm her down by secretly slipping a sedative into her Lentil Burger.

By the way, keep in mind that many of the things I say about the people I eat with in my blogs are false. Ignore them, I’m mostly joking. What I say about the food, however, is never false 🙂

Oh! We also ordered these great fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce!

I don’t normally enjoy vegan restaurants. In fact, I tend to avoid them. I love eating healthy but tend to be annoyed by the pretentious vibes and find boca burgers revolting. This place, however, was refreshing. I did not miss the animal products. In fact, I was almost hoping there was more tofu in my stir fry!

The food was great, prices were low, service was quick. (A.V., relax, you know we got served pretty quickly. What, did the pill wear off?)
