Just got back from dinner here with a good friend. Love this place. I had been years ago and wanted to revisit. It’s one of the aforementioned friend’s favorite mexican spots and I eagerly wanted to fall in love with it. Mission accomplished!
I ordered the above dish. Chicken mole enchiladas. Yum. Sorry, I mean YUM! I love mole. LOVE mole. This was a red mole, which I never usually order, but it was delicious. We also ordered their fresh tortilla chips and guac which are highly recomended. They come out warm and you want to eat them all, but are not always able to. I suggest trying. At the risk of severe stomach cramps.
They have incredible salsas. Try them all. And the pickled carrots. I don’t care if you don’t like carrots. Try them anyway.
The last time I went here, it seemed merely a step up from a great taco stand. It now appears to have expanded with more outside seating and filled with hipsters as well as area locals. Don’t let that dissuade you. In LA, first come the hipsters, then comes the Zagat rating.
On a side note, when I dropped my friend off at her house, she was almost torn to shreds by a dog outside her home. I think it was a dog. I hope she’s ok. I should call to make sure.
